Maharashtra COVID-19 cases up by 3,307 to 1,16,752; 114 more die

Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 3,307 new COVID-19 cases and 114 deaths, taking the case count to 1,16,752 and fatalities to 5,651, a Health official said.

With discharge of 1,315 patients in the day, the number of the recovered cases mounted to 59,166, he said.  The number of active cases in hospital stands at 51,921, the official added.

Coronavirus: 2 cops, 4 security forces personnel among 108 new cases in JK

Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded 108 fresh COVID-19 cases, including two police personnel and four security forces personnel, taking the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the union territory to 5,406, officials said.

There were 38 more novel coronavirus cases in Ladakh, taking the tally to 687 on Wednesday, the Health Department said.

The number of active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is 594 -- 479 in Kargil and 115 in Leh -- and seven more people were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 92, officials said.

Seventeen more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai's slum colony Dharavi, taking the tally to 2,106 on Wednesday, said the city civic body.

A senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said no fresh death has been reported in Dharavi in the past 24 hours, keeping the toll unchanged at 77.

COVID-19 toll breaches 100 mark in Karnataka; Tally of cases rises to 7,734

The COVID-19 death toll in Karnataka breached the 100 mark as the state on Wednesday reported eight new fatalities and 204 cases, taking the total number of infections to 7,734.

The day also saw 348 patients getting discharged, taking the total recoveries to 4,804, the health department said in its bulletin.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain tests positive for coronavirus

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain tested positive for the coronavirus infection, hours after he took another test. Jain was admitted to a hospital in Delhi on Tuesday due to high-grade fever and was administered a test for novel coronavirus on Tuesday morning. 

He was tested again on Wednesday morning. Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party's MLA Atishi has tested positive for coronavirus and has been quarantined at her house.

43 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in U'khand, total rises to 1,985

As many as 43 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,985. A state health department bulletin said among the fresh cases, the highest number of 14 cases were reported from Almora district, nine from Tehri, eight each from Dehradun and Nainital, two from Rudraprayag and one case each from Pauri and Uttarkashi.

Rajasthan Health Department on Wednesday confirmed that the worst-affected city Kota has seen a sharp decline in the number of coronavirus cases.

The city has therefore been demarcated in orange zone. Kota which was originally defined under red zone has not reported any positive cases in the past 24 hours.

However, the state on Wednesday registered a total of 3059 active coronavirus cases with 308 casualties so far.

A 65-year-old COVID-19 positive man from Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir died at a hospital here on Wednesday, taking the number of fatalities due to the disease in the Union territory to 64, officials said.

The man from Feripora area of Shopian, in south Kashmir, died of cardiopulmonary arrest at 4:15 am at SKIMS Hospital Soura, sources said.

India sees highest corona deaths of 2,003, cases cross 3.54L

India witnessed the highest number of fatalities due to novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in last 24 hours, with 2,003 people losing their lives to the pandemic and registered a spike of almost 11,000 cases taking the total tally to 3.54 lakh, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data revealed on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, at least 10,974 fresh cases were recorded in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 3,54,065 cases the sixth consecutive day showing an increase of over 10,000 cases.

A total of 11,903 people have succumbed to the deadly disease since the first case was reported on January 30, the Health Ministry data said.

For the ninth consecutive day, the number of recoveries (1,86,934) remained higher than the active ones (1,55,226). The recovery rate of India has also crossed the 50 per cent mark.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore has reported 44 more COVID-19 positive cases taking the total number of novel coronavirus cases to 4134 in the district.

According to a bulletin by Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), 44 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Indore, taking the total number of positive cases in the district to 4134. The death toll in the district stands at 182

"People of Indore have followed guidelines of COVID-19 lockdown so chain of transmission has broken. It's a good thing and people should continue to practice social distancing and also take other precautionary measures," Mahendra Sharma, CMHO said on Tuesday.

On Sunday Indore reported only 6 patients as COVID-19 positive on Sunday but on Monday the district reported 21 patients as positive.
