 COVID-19: Another postive case reported in Kashmir

With another positive coronavirus case surfacing in Kashmir on Tuesday, the number of cases in the Valley stands at four now, though one of those infected has recovered.

COVID-19 fund: LS Speaker donates one month's salary

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday announced to donate his one month's salary to the Prime Minister Relief Fund set up to fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.

"Contributing one month's salary to the PM Relief Fund setup to fight COVID-19. We're all in this together," Birla tweeted.

A single kit can test 100 patients

India's first indigenous COVID-19 testing kit

Pune-based Mylab Discovery Solutions has developed India's first indigenous COVID-19 testing kit that has been approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). A single kit costs Rs 80,000 and can test 100 patients.

"We can produce 1 to 1.5 lakh test kits in a week, we are trying to increase our production for the public. These kits cost one-fourth the price that the imported kits are being sold for, said Ranjit Desai, a scientist at the organisation.

Govt extends tax deadlines in view of lockdown due to coronavirus

Giving relief to citizens unable to meet deadlines due to coronavirus outbreak, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the last date for filing of income tax return for FY2018-19 has been extended to June 30. Also, interest rate on delayed payment has been cut to 9 per cent from 12 per cent, she informed. 65-yr-old COVID-19 patient dies in Mumbai

A 65-year-old coronavirus patient has died in Mumbai, taking the death toll due to COVID-19 to three in the metropolis, the city civic body said today. The man recently returned from the United Arab Emirates to Ahmedabad. He later complained of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. He also had pre-existing ailments, including high blood pressure and severe diabetes, it said.

First Coronavirus positive case reported in Manipur

Manipur reported its first case of coronavirus as a 23-year-old woman who returned from the United Kingdom tested positive, making it the first case in the northeast, an official said on Tuesday.

According to the officials of Manipur's Health and Family Welfare Department, the woman is now undergoing treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal.

"The woman was found infected during examination at the JNIMS. She is a resident of Thangmeiband Lourung Purely Leikai in Imphal. She had fallen sick on Monday," the officials said on condition of anonymity.

The Manipur government has a list of 99 people who arrived in the state in recent times from coronavirus-affected countries and are now in house quarantine.

At present, there are 796 people in quarantine under military supervision.  UK-returned person tests positive in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati:Andhra Pradesh health and family welfare department on Monday confirmed the seventh positive case of coronavirus in the state.

In the health bulletin, it is informed that a 25-year-old man from Visakhapatnam district who had returned from the UK has tested positive for COVID-19.

He travelled from Birmingham to Delhi on March 17, and on the same day reached Vizag. At the airport, he was advised home quarantine. On March 19, he was observed with fever symptoms.

On March 21 he went to a private hospital and was later admitted at GGH. His sample was collected there. On Monday evening, he was tested positive for COVID-19.

Lockdown has been imposed in Andhra Pradesh till March 31 in the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak in the country.
