Couple requests PM Modi to help Singaporean wife travel back to India on June 16

A couple has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unite them by bringing the wife - a resident of Singapore - back to her husband who is a resident of Delhi's Dwarka. Both husband and wife have released video messages addressed to PM Modi.

Dwarka (New Delhi):After being separated from each other for over three months following the suspension of flight operations amid coronavirus-induced lockdown, a couple has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unite them by bringing the wife - a resident of Singapore - back to her husband who is a resident of Delhi's Dwarka.

Casey Tan Kay Sin and Sahil Nagpal tied the knot late last year in Delhi and went back to Singapore where Nagpal is pursuing his higher studies. After a few months of his stay in the island city, Nagpal's visa got expired and he had to leave for India. Soon after his return, Indian airspace was sealed as part of precautions taken to contain the spread of coronavirus disease.

Since then Sin has been making repeated requests to Indian authorities including the Prime Minister's Office to help her fly back to India but after receiving no response she has now approached PM Modi directly through a video message.

"I have mailed to the High Commissioner of India in Singapore, the External Affairs Ministry of India, as well as the Prime Minister's Office in India, but I didn't receive any help which is why I am approaching you directly. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Ji please help me fly back to India to my husband and my family. I would like to request a flight on June 16 to Delhi, " said Sin in her video message.

A similar request was made by Sin's husband, who also sought help from PM Modi.

"I request Narendra Modi, foreign affairs minister as well as the High Commission of India in Singapore to help get by wife back to India on the June 16 flight," said Nagpal in his video message.

National carriers Air India Ltd and its subsidiary Air India Express have so far ferried 66,831 Indians from abroad under the Vande Bharat Mission, while 17,180 passengers have travelled outbound flights by the national carrier to various foreign nations.
