Coronavirus-stricken world is in dire need of vaccine

As the coronavirus continues to creep across the globe, the world is in dire need of a vaccine to ward off this pandemic. Although, scientists have been warning for some time that developing the vaccine for coronavirus will not be that easy.

Hyderabad:Corona's inhuman attack is continuing unabated with all vengeance across the world. With nearly 40 lakh cases and 2,73,000 deaths worldwide, a great disaster is unfolding in the shape of Corona!

In the list of countries with the most casualties, the US is followed by the UK, Italy and Spain.

With more than 67,000 cases and nearly 2200 deaths, the situation is alarming in India. In the wake of severe disturbances of coronavirus affecting up to 90,000 healthcare workers across many countries, the entire world is waiting for a vaccine that can ward off the pandemic.

Many countries, including India, have the infrastructure to research the genetic makeup of various viruses and analyse genomes. However, there are many viruses for which the vaccine could not be found so far.

The scientists have been warning for some time that developing the vaccine for coronavirus is not that easy.

The unpredictable mutations in the coronavirus pose a serious challenge to researchers. The eluding target is only increasing the persistence and resolve of the scientists.

The genome of the pandemic was unveiled by China on January 7. So far, many medical and pharmaceutical companies have published about six thousand research papers, and at a time when everybody is eagerly looking for a rare record of finding the right antidote fast, reports that the multi-dimensional investigations are coming to a successful conclusion is raising new hopes of an end to the catastrophe.

It is like a ray of hope in the darkness to the world suffering amid this pandemic.

Israel, which is well known for its quality of research and new inventions, is likely to come up with a new treatment method to help COVID patients recover fast.

It would be a major step forward to control the COVID-19 if commercial production of antibodies that can kill the virus in the body of the patients starts as soon as possible.

The prestigious Oxford University has recently announced that pharmaceutical experiments have been successful in a vaccine designed with the adenovirus in Chimpanzees.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has confirmed that there are at least 30 vaccine trials at various stages in India.

It is also relieving that the four types of medicines used along with Remdesivir in the treatment Ebola are also capable of fighting coronavirus.

Vaccines have the greatest record of containing the most dreadful epidemics like the plague, measles, smallpox, polio, etc., that created havoc in the world.

Experts estimate that when the vaccine for coronavirus is ready in a few months from now, it should be used in 50-70 per cent of the world's 780 million population within a few months.

Preparing the required doses at that huge level is the real challenge posed to nationally and internationally renowned pharmaceutical companies.

Whenever the vaccine is found, the world must unite without differences to make it available widely to humanity at an affordable and cheap price. Demonstration of such consolidated strength only can control and eliminate coronavirus.
