SC asks NTA to consider providing original OMR sheets to NEET candidates

The Supreme Court today directed the National Testing Agency(NTA) to consider providing original OMR sheets to the NEET candidates if a candidate alleges discrepancies and make a representation before them.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to consider providing the original answer sheets to candidates if a representation is made for the same.

A bench comprising of Justice L Nageswara Rao, Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Ajay Rastogi gave the order in response to a petition filed by 19 NEET candidates who alleged that answers recorded in the OMR sheets uploaded and the actual answers given by them, are different and do not tally.

They also reported different roll numbers, signatures, the difference in questions attempted by them, the difference in expected scores etc, to NTA but it did not respond despite following up numerous times.

They had sought quashing of NEET results that were declared on 16th October.

However, the Supreme Court ruled today that because individual grievances can not be looked by the judges in the petition filed under Article 32, they should make a representation before the NTA or can even approach the High Court.
