New Delhi:Congress party's social media campaign #SpeakUpForOurJawans reached over 2 crore people, with several residents of Ladakh posting videos demanding the centre to protect Indian land from the transgressions of Chinese troops.
"Today is a historical day as the entire country joined in unison to observe 'Shahidon Ko Salam Divas'. Over 2 crore fellow Indians as also Congressmen and women join hands social media platforms to pay homage to our 20 brave jawans who attained martyrdom in the Galwan valley, Ladakh, as also to express India's solidarity with our armed forces in every endeavour to defend the country," said Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala in his statement.
He further added, "The campaign has become a people's movement. Ordinary men and women posted heart-touching videos and messages, conveying their sentiments in the memory of our Armed Forces. Hundreds of residents of Laddakh also joined this campaign in demanding to protect our land."
In the online campaign, Congress party raised questions from the Central Government over the reported Chinese transgressions into Indian territory, including, "How and when will Modi Government ensure that our land is restored back to us? How does the Modi government propose to repulse Chinese transgressions? Why is Prime Minister giving contradictory statements undermining the valour of our armed forces?"
