While speaking to the media, Anand Sharma said, "We have a strategic partnership between India and the United States of America, which is bipartisan, which we fully endorse. But there is a time-honoured Convention of India's Foreign policy and when we engage with the Foreign Governments, we do not take a partisan position in domestic electoral politics. The PM should have honoured that."

"It should not be seen that India is taking sides. PM using that platform to exhort and raising that slogan of 'Abki baar Trump Sarkar' was better avoided, because we have engaged with Republican administration as well as Democratic administration.

As far as India's Strategic interests are concerned, we have to engage with all the parties," he added.

Addressing over 50,000 Indian Americans at the NRG Stadium, PM Modi said, "We in India connected well with President Trump and with the words of candidate Trump, 'Abki Baar, Trump Sarkar', rang loud and clear."

Hitting out at PM's slogan, Anand Sharma wrote in his tweet "Reminding you that you are in the USA as our Prime Minister and not a star campaigner in US elections."

Anand Sharma also wished all success for his visit and appealed that PM Modi will get President Trump to agree to restore all the cuts on H-1B visas, reduce the fees and again restore the GSP so that the Indian exports can access the American markets.
