Congress launches logo of 'Speak Up India' campaign to help people voice grievances

New Delhi: Congress party on Wednesday, launched the logo of its social media campaign 'Speak Up India' aiming to help raise the voice of the poor, migrants, small businesses and the middle-class people before the central government amid nationwide lockdown.

"In the last few weeks, some images have been etched in our minds. In view of the present situation, Congress party has decided to start an online campaign across the nation which will be held from 11 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. on May 28," said Congress leader Ajay Maken, during a press conference.

He further added, "More than 50 lakh Congress workers and supporters will participate in this campaign, the voice of people will be raised on social media platforms, therefore, we have given a name, 'Speak Up India', to this campaign.

"The opposition party will be raising the issues of economic distress, rights of migrant labourers, financial support to small businesses and MSMEs, and rising unemployment in the country," Ajay Maken said.

He further added, "We have just four demands from Central government. First, migrant labourers should be brought back to their homes safely and free of cost. Second, to provide immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 to the poor people. Third, financial support to MSMEs but not by loans. And fourth, to extend workdays of MGNREGA workers for 200."

For this campaign, Congress has asked the people to share live videos on social media platforms while raising these issues or interacting with the owners of small businesses, or migrant labourers.

"I request you to join this campaign. Go live and raise your voice. Congress will embolden your voice. If we collectively raise these issues, the government will be forced to listen to us," said Congress social media in-charge, Rohan Gupta.

Earlier, Congress General Secretary, KC Venugopal also held meetings with party's general secretaries, in-charges, PCC Presidents, CLP leaders, AICC secretaries and chiefs of frontal organisations, over the course of two days to discuss the upcoming campaign.

He tweeted, "Congress is committed to raising its voice for migrant workers, farmers, MSMEs, small businesses and unorganised workers who have been ignored by BJP government and have been left to fend for themselves."
