Congress organised a protest at Kirari assembly constituency area following the continuous hike in prices of petrol and diesel.
A sit-in demonstration was organized under the leadership of Congress leader Sukhbir Singh. Former district president Sadhuram Mittal targeted both Modi government and Arvind Kejriwal government over the price hike.

The Congress party launched a five-day protest on Tuesday at block level against incessant fuel price hike across the country. The party, during its protest on Monday, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to rollback the prices.

New Delhi:The Congress will launch a five-day protest at Taluka/Tehsil and Block level opposing the unprecedented rise in the prices of petrol and diesel between June 30 and July 4.
On June 29, Congress workers protested at every district headquarters against the fuel price hike, which is at a record high currently. The Congress workers used bullock carts, cycles and other means to demonstrate against the government.
As a part of the party's 'speak up' campaign, Sonia Gandhi yesterday in a video appeal asked the government to cut taxes and lower the burden on the consumers during the time of the coronavirus when people are already suffering economically.

The party workers submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner in each district.
The party is working out modalities of protest while following health protocol.
The Congress workers will carry banners and placards demanding rollback of the prices. The protesters will maintain all social distancing norms and wear protective masks during the agitation.

The party will also hold a massive online campaign 'Speak-Up on Petroleum Price hike'. The leaders, party functionaries, and sympathizers will put up live videos of the protests.
This came after the state-run oil marketing companies raised the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday, a day after there was no hike in rates that were increasing continuously for three weeks.
Since the daily price revision resumed on June 7, petrol price has increased by Rs 9.12 and diesel rose by Rs 11.01 in the national capital. In other cities also, the magnitude of the increase was similar.
Petrol prices in the other metros of Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata were at Rs 87.14, Rs 83.59 and Rs 82.05 per litre respectively.
