New Delhi:Tearing into the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) election manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress on Monday said important issues like jobs, GST, black money and demonetisation were missing from the whole announcement exercise.
Gowda said the BJP ignored landless farmers Congress slammed the BJP, saying that the party does not understand the rural economy and has failed to mention agrarian distress in its manifesto.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Rajeev Gowda said, "A look at the GDP series which was first released and then suppressed by this government shows that during the UPA era, there were two years of double digit growth, that is the kind of momentum that we have given during the UPA years."
"Thanks to PM Modi's surgical strike on the growth of economy - by demonetization and GST, the economy suffered and slowed down," he added.
Criticising the PM Kisan Scheme, Gowda stated that the benefit would only go to farmers who own land. "They do not seem to understand the rural economy and the agrarian sector. While there were some interventions for farmers, that will go only to those who own lands. They do not understand that there is a huge proportion of people in rural India who are landless labour. There is no mention about them," he said.
"We have seen India's export fall to its lowest share as a percentage of GDP over the last 14 years. So, when you see what they are promising on the economic front, once again they are trying to fool all the people all the time," he added.
