Complaint against Scindia for announcing ₹ 10 lakh to booths from MPLAD fund

BJP leader Ashok Patni filed a complaint against Guna-Shivpuri MP Jyotiraditya Scindia for violating the Model Code of Conduct after a video went viral in which Scindia announced a sum of Rs 10 lakh from the MPLAD to the polling booth which will amass 70 per cent of the vote in Congress' favour.

Ashok Nagar: BJP's Ashok Nagar unit has filed a complaint on Monday against Congress' national general secretary and Guna-Shivpuri MP Jyotiraditya Scindia for violating the Model Code of Conduct. Earlier, a video of Scindia had gone viral where he was announcing a sum of Rs 10 lakh from the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) to the polling booth which will amass 70 per cent of the vote in Congress' favour.

Scindia was on a three-day tour in Mungali to conduct the meeting with the booth level workers.

In the video, Scindia said to the workers, "The top five polling booths from each assembly and 40 polling booths from entire Lok Sabha constituency will get Rs 10 lakh from MPLAD."

He clarified that in one year, Rs 5 crore is allocated in MPLAD out of which he will give Rs 4 crore to those polling booths which will get over 70% vote in favour of Congress.

Following which, BJP leader Ashok Patni filed a complained to the district election officer where he demanded immediate action against Scindia.
