Chamarajanagar: The Chamarajanagar district has for the first time opened its library at the town's Covid Care Center.

A library of over 700 books has been set up in the 60-bed Covid Hospital. The Covid hospital has been set up at the mother and child hospital of Santheramahalli to care for Covid-infected people with symptoms. The district has taken this step to decrease the stress of mental illness, the fear of Covid, and to inculcate the habit of reading among patients in the hospital.

A few days ago, the District Collector, Dr. M.R. Ravi, who visited the hospital, suggested setting up a library to facilitate reading habits. Accordingly, the Health Department has set up a library and placed over 700 books in it.

Books of Jynanapeetha Award winners SL Bhairappa, Poornachandra Tejasvi, P. Lankesh and books by Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and books on lives of freedom fighters, water conservation, medicinal plants, yoga, theatre, children's literature have been placed in the new library. Also, books written by District Collector Dr M.R. Ravi are kept in the library.
