Hyderabad(Telangana): Haryana Congress President Kumari Sheilja lashed out at the Central government over the mega economic package of Rs 20,000 crore, saying that it won't benefit the common people and the poor. She said that National Congress President Rahul Gandhi had earlier demanded that govt should do direct cash transfer of Rs 7,500 but BJP did not pay heed.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat regional editor Braj Mohan, Sheilja said that in spite of the on-going political chaos between Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan over bus spar, Congress has contributed Rs 40 lakh to 'Haryana Covid Relief Fund'.
She said, "Everyday we see heart-wrenching pictures of helpless workers on the internet, who are walking towards their home amid the corona-induced lockdown. But BJP did not address their concern. Moreover, there is a lack of coordination between the Centre and the state which has added to the pain of the labourers. Uttar Pradesh government is busy doing politics over migrant workers".
Asked about farmer's payment in Haryana, Congress leader replied, "State government has ignored the sufferings of the farmers and the poor. BJP had claimed that there will be smooth procurement of mustard seeds of the state farmers but they were not given payment on time.
