New Delhi:The Supreme court on Monday kept its order of appointing one man monitoring committee led by former SC judge Justice Madan B Lokur to keep a check on stubble burning, in abeyance of centre's request as it is planning to bring a legislation for the issue.
The bench led by the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, was hearing a petition filed by Aditya Dubey who sought directions to Haryana, Punjab, and UP to stop stubble burning.
In the last hearing the court had appointed a one-man monitoring committee on the advocate's request as despite the states taking steps, stubble burning was not coming under control.
