New Delhi: Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday said that his government is committed to ensuring that no women or child die in India from preventable causes.
Inaugurating "Women for Health and Wellness" special screening and nutrition counselling camp at Nirman Bhawan, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that instead of just one day dedicated to marking International Women's Day "the government with sharp focus on enhancing awareness about several women's issues and provisioning of services is now celebrating it for a week starting from March 1."
Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's New India mission by 2022, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that health and wellbeing of women remain key components of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which provides health coverage upto Rs 5 lakh per family per year to around identified 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families.
