Celebrations at Birla's house after NDA nominates him for LS Speaker's post

Celebrations have begun at Om Birla's Delhi residence after he was nominated by the NDA for Lok Sabha speaker's post.

New Delhi:The nomination of Rajasthan MP Om Birla as the NDA's choice for Lok Sabha speaker has sparked-off celebrations at his New Delhi residence.

Relatives from Rajasthan are visiting Delhi to congratulate the family and even sweets are being distributed.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Om Birla's wife Amita Birla said, " This was surprising for us that he has been nominated for the Lok Sabha speaker's post. Before he left for parliament we went to the temple to thank god."

Meanwhile, Om Birla's daughter Anjali said, "I have always seen my father serving people and I hope that he will be fair with both opposition and the government."

The opposition will be supporting Om Birla as the next Lok Sabha speaker.

Birla won the Lok Sabha election from Kota-Bundi parliamentary seat in Rajasthan.

Om Birla will be succeeding previous Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan who did not contest the Lok Sabha elections this year.
