New Delhi: Congress on Thursday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on students protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is an insult and there is no such thing as a 'tukde tukde' gang in India.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal said, " There's nothing like 'tukde tukde gang' in this country. This government itself is going to be 'tukde tukde' because of their misdeeds. They promised that they'll bring 'Acche din' but today the entire nation has come to the streets including the students. Calling them 'tukde tukde' gang is an insult to them."
In the wake of protests against the CAA in the national capital, Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday had accused Congress of supporting violence in the city's streets and said it is time to 'punish the tukde-tukde gang'.
Shah also said that the opposition parties were not ready to talk about the bill during the Parliament session, but later they started spreading rumours and lies, which made Delhi turbulent.
