INC claims CAB is anti-national and anti-constitution

Talking to ETV Bharat here, senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi said what kind of the bill the government has brought in, if passed, he said every Muslim of the country would have to prove his/her nationality.

"Leader like Mahatma Gandhi and Vallabhbhai Patel would not have even thought that citizenship in India would ever be given on the basis of religion," he said, adding that it nothing but "vote bank politics".

"The people of the country are smart enough, they would not let them succeed," he said.

The Congress leader also attacked the union government by saying that it was creating different laws for different states.

"You have one law in Kashmir and another in North-Eastern states and all this is being done to create problems for Muslims in the country," Alvi alleged.

He said the government, since it has agencies like ED and CBI, may get the bill passed in Rajya Sabha too.
