New Delhi:The citizenship amendment bill is scheduled be presented in parliament on Monday.
While all the opposition parties are gearing up to oppose the bill, CPI M too has joined the line. The national general Secretary of CPIM on Sunday said that his MPs will oppose the bill in both the houses.
CAB is anti-constitutional, CPIM will oppose it: Sitaram Yechuri The left party have also put some demands with suggested amendments in section 2 and 6 of the bill.
Section 2, line 3 of the Citizenship amendment bill mentions the line "belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhists, Jain, Parsi or Christian community from Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan" The CPIM has demanded to remove this line and put "from neighbouring countries", who entered into India.
Similarly, the second amendment demanded by CPIM asks to delete the same line from line 3, section 6 of the bill and asks to add "from neighbouring countries", the aggregate.
"Citizenship can not be linked to the religious affiliation of a person concerned, that is even the fundamental of our constitution and that is sought to be violated with this bill," said Sitaram Yechuri.
