BJP slams opposition silence over sacked BSF jawan's viral video

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra on Tuesday hit out at the opposition for its "silence" over the content of a video clip in which Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose candidature from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat was rejected, is purportedly talking about assassinating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Patra also alleged that the Congress party was shying away from using the name of Rajiv Gandhi in Delhi and Punjab as he is responsible for murdering 3000 Sikhs.

New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday slammed the opposition for its silence over the terminated BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav's viral video where he is seen talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assassination.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra asked, "Why are Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Rahul Gandhi silent over the issue. Why aren't they able to give answers now.

Yadav's nomination, who filed his papers against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, was earlier rejected after he failed to submit a certificate.

The Samajwadi Party had fielded Yadav as its candidate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29. Prior to that, he was in fray as an independent candidate.

The BJP spokesperson also alleged that Yadav has mentioned Pakistan and terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen in his viral video and that he knew terrorists of Hizbul and LeT.

"Will the opposition apologise for projecting him as their alliance's candidate" Patra questioned.

To a question about the Supreme Court rejecting opposition's review plea on VVPAT, he said their attack on electronic voting machines is an attempt to get an "anticipatory bail" for their impending loss in the general election.

Patra went on to challenge the opposition to contest two-phase elections in Delhi and Punjab in the name of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

"Congress party is buried under the guilt of butchering 3000 Sikhs, that is why they shy away from using the name of Rajiv Gandhi in Delhi and Punjab," he said.
