'Janjagran Abhiyan'

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday launched a mega public awareness drive, 'Janjagran Abhiyan', to reach out to the masses to outline the government's decision to modify article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which scrapped its special status and further bifurcated it into two separate Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Under the 'Janjagran Abhiyan', BJP will conduct 370 public meetings at 35 cities of the country.

"Earlier Jammu and Kashmir used to have its own constitution which restricted the Indian government to impose some of the laws strictly. Some people were taking advantage to this situation," said Baijayant Panda, senior BJP leader.

"BJP will conduct 370 public meetings regarding the matter under the campaign," he added.

The public awareness campaign is headed by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao. The team also includes former Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia and many prominent BJP leaders.

The campaign will continue till September 30.
