Addressing a public gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, he dared BJP not to make a fight between Ali and Bajrangbali. Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan is pitted against BJP’s Jaya Prada from Rampur.

CM Yogi Adityanath had earlier on Tuesday stoked controversy when in a rally in Meerut, he suggested that Hindu and Muslim voters are in an "Ali-Bajrang Bali" tussle.

Talking to ETV Bharat, BJP's National Spokesperson Prem Shukla condemned Azam Khan's statement.

"By this statement, Azam Khan has done a crime of hurting the sentiments of Hindu community. BJP never made any statement against anyone's faith," Prem Shukla said.

" He should not make statements like this at the time of elections. I want Election Commission of India to take serious action against him. Commission should cancel his nomination," Shukla added.
