He said all possible precautions are being taken to contain the disease that has killed thousands of people across the world. The BJP leader said remaining part of budget session would go on as MPs take all precautions.

However, the BJP has either postponed or cancelled various party functions that were to be held in different parts of the country over the next few weeks.

On being asked if the party could do so in view of the contagious disease, why can't the session be postponed, the national spokesperson of the saffron party said that BJP suspending or cancelling party programmes would not have any impact on the masses but in case parliament suspends the session, it may have a negative effect on the public.

Commenting on the political situation in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP leader said the Congress was buying time in the name coronavirus there.

"The Congress must have proved its majority if they actually had the required numbers to do so," Shashtri said, adding that it was illegal to delay the exercise in the name of the contagious virus.
