Bihar government will give full support to SC: Tyagi on Chamki fever

After Supreme Court directed the Central and Bihar governments to present a detailed report regarding measures being taken towards prevention and cure Chamki fever, JDU Chief General Secretary KC Tyagi stated that the state government will fully cooperate with the probe so that the number of casualties can be controlled.

New Delhi:Expressing deep concern over the deaths of more than 170 children in Bihar due to 'Chamki' fever, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Bihar government on Monday seeking a report regarding the matter within 7 days.

Apart from issuing orders to the state government, the apex court has also asked the Centre for a detailed report of the measures being taken towards prevention of the disease. The report will also discuss various steps taken for the treatment and cure of the patients.

Extending his support to Supreme Court's order, Janata Dal-United Chief General Secretary KC Tyagi said that the party welcomed the concerns of the court and the state government would fully cooperate with the probe.

He said that better facilities for the treatment of children are being given in Bihar, the Bihar Government is raising whatever is possible, hoping that whatever the current situation is going to be overcome

Speaking exclusively with ETV Bharat, Tyagi said that the state government is equally concerned with the rising death toll of children due to Chamki fever.

"This is a very serious matter and no politics should be practised in such issues. Bihar government is making every possible effort to provide better medical aid to the patients," Tyagi added.

The court has asked for a critical observation regarding the current situation of health, nutrition and sanitation across the state in the report.

The court will be hearing petitions regarding increasing medical facilities in Bihar. It will also direct the Centre to channelise the aid in proper ways to states to meet medical emergencies.
