Bhopal MLA tests Covid-19 +ve; Madhya Pradesh tally crosses 10,000

Congress MLA Kunal Choudhary from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal on Saturday tested positive for coronavirus disease. As on Friday, 10,443 people had been affected by the virus, with 70 of them being from Bhopal, as per the state health department.

Bhopal: Congress MLA Kunal Choudhary from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal on Saturday tested positive for coronavirus disease in addition to 51 other people, taking the Covid-19 case count beyond 10,000 with a total of 440 fatalities in the state.

As on Friday, 10,443 people had been affected by the virus, with 70 of them being from Bhopal, as per the state health department.

Since the lockdown restrictions were eased on May 31, the number of patients has grown by 2, 354 with 90 deaths.

Considering the alarming rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the state government led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday decided to impose a total lockdown in Bhopal, one of the Covid-19 hotpots in the country, on Saturdays and Sundays.

The decision was taken by CM Chouhan in a review meeting on coronavirus on Thursday.
