Bengaluru:Police have arrested 84 more accused in connection with the violence that erupted in Bengaluru on Tuesday night which killed three people and left hundreds injured. Till now, at least 290 people have been arrested.
"Section 144 will remain in force till 6 am tomorrow under DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits," Kamal Pant, Bangalore Police Commissioner said.
Yesterday, 60 people were arrested by the police which also included Kaleem Pasha, husband of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) corporator. According to information, Pasha also fired shots and charged people with batons taking the opportunity of the chaos.
Naveen, the prime accused and nephew of Congress MLA Srinivas Murthy, has been taken into custody and is being interrogated. Naveen has confessed to his crime of posting a derogatory 'Facebook post' following which violence rocked the eastern part of the city.
The accused has also pleaded guilty to the police and is being interrogated by the Special Task Force (STF) and Bengaluru City Police(BCP). The cops have also tracked down Naveen Mobile's whereabouts as Naveen had complained earlier that his mobile phone was missing.
On the other hand, policemen have cordoned off the house of Srinivas Murthy and security has been tightened to avert any further mishap.
Earlier, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) leader Muzamil Pasha was also arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in the riots. A day after the violence broke out, 145 people were arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka govt is mulling to ban the Popular Front of India (PFI) and SDPI in the wake of the violence that rocked the state's capital. Four teams have been constituted to investigate the August 11 riots in which at least 60 policemen were injured. Forensic teams have conducted an investigation at the DJ Halli police station and KG Halli police station premises in Bengaluru.
On August 11, areas under Pulakeshinagar assembly constituency in Bengaluru resembled a war zone after an unruly mob went on a rampage torching vehicles and set the police vans on fire. Charred vehicles, shards of glass from broken windows, stones and bricks lie strewn over the deserted roads of the violence-affected localities.
Three people were killed in police firing and scores were injured including at least 50 policemen in the violence and arson that broke out in the city. Karnataka Tourism Minister CT Ravi and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya have requested Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to attach properties of those involved in the riot.
