Assam MP lodges complaint against IAS officer to Lok Sabha Speaker

Former BJP MP from Assam, Ramen Deka has lodged a complaint against a 2012 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer, Ghanashyam Das, accusing him of neglecting his duty.

New Delhi: Accusing a 2012 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer of neglecting his duties, former BJP MP from Assam, Ramen Deka has lodged a complaint to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

"I will also move to the Prime Minister so that strict action is taken against the arrogant Ghanashyam Das who is currently working as Deputy Commissioner of Darrang district," said Deka.

Deka alleged that it was due to the failure and negligence of Ghanashyam Das that Rs 2.5 crore from MP Local Area Development (LAD) was not released till date.

"The concerned department at the Centre has not yet released Rs 2.5 crore MP LAD fund of the second installment. When I wanted to enquire about the issue, Dhanashyam Das denied giving any reply. Instead, he was so arrogant that he did not bother to talk to me on this issue," said Deka.

Deka was BJP MP from Assam in the 15th and 16th Lok Sabha. Deka said that He will also approach the Prime Minister to take action against Das.

"I will approach the Prime Minister so that strict action is taken against Ghanashyam Das," Deka said.

Rs 5 crore is allocated to MP every year under MP LAD fund.

Referring to the actions taken by the central government against bureaucrats found involved in unethical activities, Deka said, "The performance of Ghanashyam Das should be evaluated and if found guilty, he should be punished."

It is pertinent to mention that during the last five years, sanction for prosecution under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was given against 23 IAS and four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.

According to government statistics, 2 IAS officers have been dismissed in the last five years on corruption charges.
