Ashok Tanwar happy over SC allowing to build Guru Ravidas Temple

Former Congress leader Ashok Tanwar has expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court order on construction of Guru Ravidas Temple in Delhi's Tughlakabad area, saying followers of the guru would be happy. He also refused either to come up with his own political party or to join any other outfit as of now.

New Delhi: Expressing happiness over the Supreme Court order on Guru Ravidas Temple, former Congress leader Ashok Tanwar on Monday said the whole country wanted it to be built and now with the apex court ordering in favour of it, a way has been now been paved for construction of a permanent structure in Delhi's Tughlakabad area.

"We had filed a petition to get the court's earlier ruling on the matter modified. Now, when the government has been asked to constitute a committee, it should be done soon," Tanwar said while talking to reporters outside the court here.

The Haryana-based politician said it's good for all the followers of Guru Ravidas across the nation.

He along with Pradeep Jain Aditya, a former minister, earlier moved the apex court seeking a modification. He also sought a direction seeking a fence to enclose temple pond and samadhis.

The court earlier accepted union government's proposal for the reconstruction of the temple at the same site where it situated before being demolished by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) two months ago.

On being asked about his future plans, the former Haryana Congress chief said he would organise roadshows and meetings to bring in new faces in Indian politics.

"We would support and encourage new people who want to be politicians," he said, refusing to be joining any political party in the near future.

"A lot needs to be done. There are many pressing issues in front of the country. These are to address," he said, adding that he would continue to work to get those issues settled.

Tanwar also denied having any plan to launch his own political outfit.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal are to questioned on Lokpal," he said.
