The Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh celebrates Holi every year in a very unique way as the men deck themselves up as women to offer prayer to the goddess Rati and god Manmatha.

Andhra Pradesh: The most endearing festival of Holi is celebrated in a very unique way at Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.

Santhekudlur village of Adoni Mandal near Karnataka boarder witnesses this distinctive and peculiar kind of celebration every year. Men tend to deck themselves up like woman as they proceed the day to celebrate the festivity.

According to their tradition they put up sarees, wear ornaments and worship the goddess Rati and god Manmatha.

Furthermore, the villagers have religiously followed the tradition for long with the belief that this practice of Holi celebration will help crop cultivation grow manifold and will save the village from any kind of hardships and problems.
