New Delhi: The BJP on Friday said the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University has, of late, become a political junction and is being flooded with anti-social elements.
Interacting with the ETV Bharat here, BJP national spokesperson Sudesh Verma, who himself has been a student of the university, said earlier it would be totally different as students would debate issues of national and international importance and learn.
Anti-social elements have found way to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, says BJP on Friday.
"Anti-social elements have found their way to the Jawaharlal Nehru University. They would indulge in anti-social activities for which the students would get blamed," he said.
The BJP leader also held political parties responsible for supporting anti-social and anti-nation elements.
"These parties would use students to get political mileage," he alleged, saying that it "pains" him.
He said even after the government has accepted their demands, why do they have protests organised every now and then. "This should be stopped".
The JNU students have been agitating against the increase in hostel fees for the past few days even as the JNU announced a partial rollback, which they have dubbed an "eyewash".
Objectionable messages have also been found written on the pedestal of a yet-to-be-unveiled statue of Swami Vivekananda at the campus on Thursday.
