New Delhi: On the day when Bihar witnessed the first phase of polling with 53.54 per cent voters turnout, Communist Party of India (CPI-Marxist) politburo member Hannan Mollah said that anti-incumbency factor against Nitish government will work in favour of the grand alliance.
"There is an anti-incumbency factor in Bihar and Central government. Nitish government failed to deliver anything remarkable in the last 10 years. There were massive problems in the state like flood problem, migrant workers issue, and unemployment, "Mollah told ETV Bharat.
In the first phase of polling, Bihar recorded 53.54 per cent polling till 6 p.m.
Mollah said that the grand alliance is getting public support. "Left base is there in Bihar and it can mobilise votes. At the present situation Left, RJD and Congress us the best combination," said Mollah.
In the grand alliance, among the 243 Assembly seats, RJD is contesting in 144 seats, Congress in 70 seats and Left parties including CPI (ML) 19 seats, CPI 6 and 4 seats to CPM.
Anti-incumbency will work against Nitish government: CPM
The Communist Party, which is contesting Bihar elections with Congress, opined that the anti-incumbency factor against Nitish Kumar is strong in the state and left parties still have the capacity to mobilise votes.

Meanwhile, referring to the issue of giving land rights to the people from other states in J&K, Mollah said that this is a conspiracy of the current BJP government to change Kashmir's demography and culture.
"After bifurcating a state in two two union territories, the central government want other people to capture land in Kashmir...this will destroy the identity of the Kashmiri people," said Mollah.
He said that no development has taken place in Kashmir. "There was no development in Kashmir. No democratic rights, no livelihood and no improvement," said Mollah.
He further accused that the central government has been utilising the Central agencies to suppress the opposition.
Mollah was referring to the grilling of former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah by Enforcement Directorate (ED) and subsequent raids by NIA in 10 different locations and particular individuals in connection to a case pertaining to NGOs and Trusts raising funds in India and abroad and using those funds for carrying out secessionist activities.
