Andhra Pradesh govt gives nod to private labs for COVID-19 tests

The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday permitted private laboratories also to conduct COVID-19 tests. The laboratories approved by the NABL and ICMR are permitted to conduct tests.

Amaravati: Testing for the Coronavirus disease is now available at the private labs in Andhra Pradesh.

An order issued to this effect said that only the laboratories approved by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) are permitted to conduct tests.

Also, the health department issued prices for the tests. The orders read private labs should send their proposals to YSR Aarogyasri trust.

The District Medical Health Authority has been entrusted with the responsibility of regulating the COVID tests.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has reported 207 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. No COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours and the death toll remains at 80.
