In her letter, Karat has also asked Shah to ensure that no troublemakers from outside Delhi are allowed to enter the capital.

Karat has said that the protest against CAA led mainly by women has been peaceful for the last two months. There have been no incidents of violence in Delhi except those incidents of firing at the protesters by a man who was incited to violence by a minister of the central government.

"This should have alerted the police and intelligence agencies to efforts being made by certain elements to disrupt the peaceful protest and give a communal colour to them...Intelligence agencies failed or all the reports are ignored," said Karat in her letter. Karat in her letter also accused BJP leader Kapil Mishra of instigating violence.

"The main need is for an impartial and just intervention to ensure peace in the national capital...we request you to follow up your appeal by also ensuring that political forces under your influence will heed the need for peace," Karat wrote in her letter.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Brinda Karat said that the law and order situation in Delhi has totally collapsed. "The Home Minister should show some responsibility so that peace prevails in Delhi."

Karat said that she has visited hospitals in Delhi where violence affected victims have been admitted. "During my interaction with one of the victims, they told us that before attacking them they were enquired about their community," she added.
