New Delhi: Emphasizing that people need to understand there was nothing in the amended Citizenship Act that would affect them in any manner, the BJP on Monday said opposition political parties were not actually concerned about it, they were, in fact, furthering their own agenda against the "pro-poor government" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by organisation protests across the country.
"People should understand that the amended Citizenship Act won't affect them. It's not for them. It's for people from other countries," Bizay Sonkar Shastri, national spokesperson of the BJP told ETV Bharat here.
Expressing regret over the nationwide protests against the newly amended act on citizenship, the BJP leader said how can this cause any problem to the people of India, when it has nothing to do with them.
He said it's the opposition parties that are, in the name of opposing the amended Citizenship Act, were on roads to create problems for the Modi government.
