Chinta Ramaswamy from Pittalanka village is becoming an inspiration for the people by running at the age of 85. Ramaswamy has participated in the national and state competitions and won several medals. At present, he is having a financial crunch and hoping for donors to help.

Pittalanka (Andhra Pradesh): In general, participating in the running competition at the age of 85 years is somewhat a rarity. At this age where staying fit and healthy for people becomes a tough task, 85-year-old Chinta Ramaswamy from Pittalanka village of Krishna district is participating in national and state competitions and bagging tons of medals surprising the youngsters.

''I am facing a financial crisis at present due to which I cannot afford to participate in all the national and state-wide competitions. I am waiting for donors to help me so that I can participate in not only in national but international competitions too. I want to make India proud'', Ramaswamy said.

Born on February 3 in 1935, Chinta Ramaswamy joined the military at the age of 19. He had also served as ASI in the Police Department.

Ramaswamy said,'' I did not stop after my retirement and continued my career as an athlete. I also do farming on my small land. I have always maintained my diet and had no bad habits from an early age''.

A lover of games, Ramaswamy secured the third position in 100 meters race and gold in 5 km running race in Manipur. Encouraging the villagers, he said that everyone should participate in running competitions and maintain a healthy routine. Villagers are also drawing inspiration from this old man who is setting an example to keep up his passion irrespective of all odds.
