New Delhi:Following Kunal Kamra's tweet on the Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde, Attorney General of India (AG) KK Venugopal on Friday gave consent to initiate a contempt petition against the stand-up comedian.
Earlier this week, Kunal had posted a photo of him from inside a flight showing his two fingers and captioned it writing that "One of these 2 fingers is for CJI Arvind Bobde.....ok let me not confuse you it's the middle one".
In response to this, Advocate Anuj Singh had written a fresh letter to the AG for initiating contempt against Kamra claiming that the post had gone viral and disrespected the judiciary.
Already, Kunal is facing contempt petitions for his Twitter posts criticising the Supreme Court on its decision to grant bail to journalist Arnab Goswami and not giving the same treatment to other common men or detained activists or journalists. AG had granted consent earlier too saying that in his opinion it [Kamra's tweets] does amount to contempt and be left for the judges to decide it lawfully.
