New Delhi:While the entire country is witnessing widespread protests against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)- the student wing of the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party - on Friday organised a pro-CAA protest at Rajeev Chowk central park in Delhi's Connaught Place.
The protest witnessed the participation of people from all walks of life particularly the youth who expressed their support for the CAA which seeks to provide citizenship to six non-Muslim minorities from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
"This programme has been organised to spread awareness about the Act. A lot of people are falling prey to rumours and are forming opinions based on those rumours, " said one of the participants at the protest.
Another participant questioned the anti-CAA protests and said, "We are willing to give space to the minorities from other countries in our country, why do people have a problem with it?"
ABVP has been holding similar protests across the country.
