Abhinandan, Balakot heroes display MiG formation on Air Force Day

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and Balakot pilots display MiG formation as part of Air Force Day parade. The IAF is celebrating its birth anniversary with a ceremonial parade at Air Force Station Hindan. It will also feature a spectacular air display showcasing both vintage aircraft and modern fleet.

New Delhi:Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman of the Indian Air Force, who shot down a PAF F-16 during a dogfight earlier this year, flew MiG-21 Bison over Air Force Day parade at Hindon Air Base on Tuesday.

According to reports, IAF pilots who carried out the Balakot strike also flew fighter jets. Three Mirage 2000 aircraft and two Su-30MKI fighter aircraft also flew in 'Avenger formation.'

The 87th anniversary of IAF will also feature a spectacular air display showcasing both vintage aircraft and modern fleet.

The Indian Air Force was established on October 8, 1932, in undivided India which was under colonial rule. It was given the prefix "Royal" by King George VI for its contribution during the Second World War. The prefix was later dropped in 1950 when India became a republic.
