New Delhi:Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman of the Indian Air Force, who shot down a PAF F-16 during a dogfight earlier this year, flew MiG-21 Bison over Air Force Day parade at Hindon Air Base on Tuesday.
Abhinandan, Balakot heroes display MiG formation on Air Force Day According to reports, IAF pilots who carried out the Balakot strike also flew fighter jets. Three Mirage 2000 aircraft and two Su-30MKI fighter aircraft also flew in 'Avenger formation.'

The Indian Air Force was established on October 8, 1932, in undivided India which was under colonial rule. It was given the prefix "Royal" by King George VI for its contribution during the Second World War. The prefix was later dropped in 1950 when India became a republic.
