5 Indians stranded in Pakistan during pandemic lockdown repatriated: MEA to NHRC

The Ministery of External Affairs informed NHRC that the five people who were stranded in Pakistan due to COVID-19 lockdown have been rescued. An advocate had filed the complaint in the NHRC with a request for urgent intervention of Commission and to request MEA to take immediate steps for the safe return of Indian nationals.

New Delhi: Five Indians who were stranded in Pakistan due to COVID-19 lockdown are back in the country, informed Ministery of External Affairs (MEA) to the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC).

A complaint was filed in NHRC seeking repatriation of 5 Indians who were stranded in Pakistan.

The reply was filed by MEA on Monday and it says, "Subsequent to Pakistan conveying its concurrence for repatriation of stranded Indian nationals, the five Indians, referred by a complainant have returned to India on June 27, 2020, through Attari-Wagah border crossing".

An advocate had file complaint in the National Human Rights Commission with a request for urgent intervention of Commission and to request MEA to take immediate steps for the safe return of Indian nationals.

The ministry said that Indian High Commission in Islamabad was in regular touch with stranded Indians and concerned authorities in Pakistan.
