Two floors of the Border Security Force (BSF) Headquarters were closed on Monday after a Head Constable working there was found COVID-19 positive on Sunday. The BSF Headquarters is a few hundred metres far from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Headquarters, which was sealed on Sunday after a bus driver deputed there was found COVID-19 positive.

New Delhi: Two floors of the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters in Delhi were sealed on Monday after a staff member was tested positive for COVID-19.

The BSF statement said that a head constable was found Covid-19 positive on Sunday. He was working in an office on the second floor of BSF headquarters and last attended the office on May 1.

"All persons who came in his contact have been identified and quarantined. They will also be tested for COVID-19. Offices on first and second floors of the headquarter have been closed as a precaution. All drills for sanitisation are being undertaken," added BSF.

The force further stated that contact tracing is also underway and only bare minimum staff is working. All attending staff vacated offices and the office complex was thoroughly sanitized with prescribed solutions of disinfectants.

The eight-storeyed BSF head office in the CGO complex on Lodhi road in central Delhi will be disinfected again today in the afternoon.

The BSF had said on Sunday that 42 of its personnel had been infected with Covid-19 so far. Of these, 31 belong to a 98-member unit that was deployed with Delhi Police at the Nizamuddin Markaz and in Chandni Mahal area.

The headquarters of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the same CGO comlex was also sealed on Sunday after the personal staff of a senior officer and a bus driver tested positive for coronavirus.

As of now, there are 137 positive cases in CRPF, 54 positive cases in BSF, 21 cases in ITBP, nine cases in CISF and four in SSB, taking the total number of positive cases in the CAPFs to 225.
