A 10th standard girl donated her piggy bank one day before her birthday in which she was saving money for 1 year to celebrate her birthday. Shambhavi chooses to donate her piggy bank's money to the District Magistrate (DM) Pranav Kumar's office and urged that money should be used to help poor people.

Bhagalpur: At a time when every little contribution made to the relief fund to combat COVID-19 makes a difference, a 10th standard girl's thoughtful gesture to help the affected people has become the face of solidarity during the crisis.

Hailing from Bihar's Bhagalpur, Shambhavi Shekhar had reportedly been saving money in her piggy bank for one year to celebrate her birthday. But after seeing the struggle of daily wage workers and poor people who are starving during the lockdown, she decided to put her savings one day before her birthday to the greater good.

Shambhavi chooses to donate her piggy bank's money to the District Magistrate (DM) Pranav Kumar's office here. She appealed that the money should be used to help the poor people who are not able to get food and other amenities during the lockdown.

"I had saved money for one year to celebrate my birthday. But I saw in the news that many people are starving and have no place to live and then I decided to donate the money to DM," Shambhavi told ETV Bharat.

Former Deputy Mayor Dr. Preeti Shekhar, while praising Shambhavi's effort and said that this is the beauty of India. People here come together to help needy one during the crisis. I would appeal to the public that whoever is capable to help to combat COVID-19 should come forward like Shambhavi.

Several celebrities, entrepreneurs have come forward to assist the Government in raising funds for COVID-19.
