1000 medical experts across India shares ideas to fight Covid-19

As many as 1000 medical experts from across India exchanged ideas on ventilatory management of Covid-19 even as the Centre has asked all the states to get prepared to face any kind of eventuality. Medical experts including intensivists, chest physicians and other physicians involved in emergency care related to ventilator management across the country from various nursing homes, district hospitals, medical colleges and drug-resistant TB Centre's participated in the programme.

New Delhi:As many as 1000 medical experts from across India on Saturday exchanged ideas on ventilatory management of Covid-19 even as centre has asked all the states to get prepared to face any kind of eventuality.

Against the backdrop of increasing number of Covid 19 cases in India, the Union Health Ministry and All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) organised the national training session on ventilatory management of Covid 19 through the ECHO video conferencing platform.

"It's an united fight against Covid-19. We all should come together and fight against the disease," said Luv Agarwal, joint secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The web based training session on ventilatory management of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) for Covid-19 took place for more than three hours.

Experts like Prof Rajeshwari Subramaniam, Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, Prof Anant Mohan, Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Critical care and Dr Rahul Anand, Associate professor, Department of Anaesthesiology conducted the programme.

"Medical experts including intensivists, chest physicians and other physicians involved in emergency care related to ventilator management across the country from various nursing homes, district hospitals, medical colleges and drug resistant TB Centre's participated in the programme.

The Health Ministry has asked the state government to utilise NHM funds to contain Covid-19 related cases.

Aggarwal reiterated that there is community transmission of Covid-19 in India as of now as the government was able to find 7000 people through contact tracing.

"These people came in contact with the positive patients or next to the positive," said Agarwal.

He appealed people to participate in Sunday's Janata Curfew saying that it was necessary to break the Covid-19 chain.

As on Saturday, the number of Covid-19 case in India stood up to 294 including 267 active case, 23 cured and 4 deaths.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a notification said that the retail price of melt-blown non-Woven Fabric used in manufacturing masks (2ply & 3ply) shall not be more than the prices prevailing on the day one month period to March 13, 2020 i.e. the price prevailing on February 2, 2020.

"The retail price of masks (3ply surgical masks) shall not be more than the prices prevailing on the day one month prior to March 13 i. e. as on February 12 or not more than Rs 10 per piece whichever is lower and that of mask (2ply) shall not be more than Rs 8 per piece," the notification issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs said.
