Bengal post-poll violence: Central Committee submits report to G Kishan Reddy

The Central Committee has submitted its report to the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs on the post-poll violence in West Bengal. The report titled 'Khela in Bengal 2021' was submitted to G Kishan Reddy at his residence in New Delhi.

New Delhi: The Central Committee, constituted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on the post-poll violence in West Bengal, submitted its report to the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy on Saturday.

Thousands of people were displaced amid the post-election violence in West Bengal and nearly 16 people have lost their lives of these six were BJP workers.

The four-member committee submitted a report titled 'Khela in Bengal 2021' to G Kishan Reddy at his residence in New Delhi.

Supreme Court Advocate Monica Arora was appointed as the convenor of the committee.

The Trinamool Congress emerged victorious by a two-thirds majority after the results of the Legislative Assembly elections in West Bengal were declared, following which the TMC activists reportedly targeted BJP workers and attacked the party office and workers' homes.

North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas were worst hit by the violence.

The committee also met Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to ascertain all the facts of the event.

Meanwhile, even after the formation of the government, the blame game continues in the state with BJP putting allegations on TMC for carrying out attacks on its workers and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refuting all the claims.

According to Bengal CM, the violence erupted only in those areas where BJP candidates won.
