Battle continue till last breath, says protesting farmers at Tikri border

The protesting farmers at various borders of the national capital have agreed to follow the covid guidelines at the protest sites. They said that they will not conclude this protest unless the government agrees to their demands.

Tikri Border (Delhi):As COVID-19 cases turned 'deadly' forcing the national capital to extend lockdown for a week, the protesting farmers at various borders in Delhi have agreed to implement protocols to arrest the spread of the deadly virus. Also, they agreed to take the coronavirus vaccine dose at the protest site.

However, they are determined to continue the protest till their last breath. "Either we will win this battle or we would sit here for an indefinite period," said a sexagenarian farm leader to ETV Bharat.

Farmer leader Baldev Singh told ETV Bharat that the government is creating unnecessary panic among the public. There is no such virus in the country that can create such havoc, added Singh.

Pointing at the recent election rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in West Bengal, he said "Modi had addressed more than twenty rallies without adhering to the covid guidelines and now he is pointing fingers at us."

"This is not fair."

Another leader claimed that the mortality rate is less than 1 percent in the case of Covid-19 and that more than 23 percent die every year due to dengue. "

The government is creating panic. If they are really conscious of our health, then they should regularly spray mosquito disinfectant chemicals at the protest sites", another farm leader Amrik Singh.

Meanwhile, farmers have been protesting at different borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three farm laws: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
