Kolkata:Launching a scathing attack on BJP on Monday, West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee said that the saffron gang is a political party of 'thieves'. She also claimed that BJP Lok Sabha members, Babul Supriyo and Locket Chatterjee, who are contesting assembly polls are the products of financial scams like Saradha, Rose Valley and Narada.
The chief minister maintained that the BJP does not have enough candidates, therefore, they are forced to field the Lok Sabha members in the assembly polls.
Addressing a rally at Chinsurah in Hooghly district, she said that BJP has fielded the same candidates in both Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.
“Now the Lok Sabha members are contesting in state assembly polls. Next time, they will contest in panchayat polls and even in school committee elections. BJP has no local leader and hence it is fielding the same candidate again and again,” the chief minister added.
Claiming that Babul Supriyo and Locket Chatterjee are products of financial scams, the chief minister alleged that despite their involvement in financial scams cases, "they became MPs or MLAs".

Recalling that Trinamool Congress got defeated by BJP in Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency in 2019, she also appealed to people not to 'repeat the same mistake'.
She also tried to pacify the infighting in Hooghly's district leadership. “Some might dislike local leaders like Tapan Majumdar or Tapan Dasgupta. But please forgive them. I have talked to them. They will not repeat their mistakes. They are not traitors at the end of the day. They will not harm the party from inside. So please vote in their favour. If you vote for them, my fort will become stronger,” the chief minister said.
Speaking on the occasion, she reiterated her allegation that BJP is trying to bribe people to get their votes. “Recently jawans were killed in Sukma. BJP leaders are ignorant of that. They are all glued to Bengal. I request the women to take responsibility if Trinamool’s poll agents are threatened and kept away from the polling booth. In Nandigram, the same thing happened. If anyone threatens you, record it and make it viral. This time we will win Bengal and next, we will move to win Delhi,” she said.
