Mumbai: One of the six suspected terrorists arrested by the Delhi Police, Jan Mohammad, a resident of Dharavi in Mumbai, has links with the 'D-company' about 20 years back, ATS chief Vineet Agarwal told a press conference here on Wednesday. 'D-Company' is a term used to refer to the underworld crime syndicate controlled by fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim.
Agarwal said that a team of four ATS officers will go to Delhi to interrogate Mohammad. He also assured that Mumbai city and the whole of Maharashtra is safe.
"The suspect, Jan Mohammad Sheikh, had an connection with D-Gang twenty years ago as he was working for Dawood. This person was on the radar of Maharashtra ATS because of this link. However, no explosives or weapons were found in his possession during the Delhi Police operation," Agarwal said.
'He was in financial trouble'
Jaan Mohammad Sheikh had booked a ticket to go to Nizamuddin, but the ticket was not confirmed and two days later, Jan Mohammad travelled to Nizamuddin in a sleeper coach. Jan Mohammad started his journey from Mumbai Central. He was arrested by Delhi Police from Rajasthan. Jaan was working as a driver. He had bought a taxi, but he could not repay its EMI. He later bought a two-wheeler. However, Agarwal said that due to financial difficulties, he may have come in contact with the 'D-Company'.

Not a failure of Maharashtra ATS
