Guwahati: The monsoon flood situation in Assam continued to worsen, as more than 647,606 lakh people were affected in 22 of the state's 34 districts. Officials with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported two more drownings in Majuli and Barpeta districts, bringing the death toll since August 30 to five.
According to ASDMA officials, the districts affected by flood re Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Daarang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup (Rural), Kamrup(Metro), Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tinsukia etc.
A total of 57 revenue circles in these 22 districts are still in floodwaters. So far 1295 revenue villages have been affected by floods. Of these, Morigaon district is at the top position.
