New Delhi:The scuffle over a social media toolkit to allegedly defame the government has intensified on Wednesday, as the Anti-terror unit of Delhi Police has taken over the matter.
According to the reports, the investigation team lead by DCP Pramod Kushwaha has earlier investigated the Delhi violence case and JNU sedition case.
Earlier, a special notice has been issued to Twitter, by the terror unit. Along with that two Congress leaders, who filed a complaint against BJP leaders, have been served notice by the Delhi Police's Special Cell in connection with the alleged toolkit case.
On Monday, in a statement, Delhi Police said, "Delhi police team went to the Twitter office to serve a notice to Twitter, as a part of a routine process. This was necessitated as we wanted to ascertain who is the right person to serve a notice, as replies by Twitter India MD have been very ambiguous."
Delhi Police has launched a preliminary inquiry into the alleged Congress toolkit and had served notice to Manish Maheshwari on May 21. On Monday, Delhi Police had said, "We are inquiring into a complaint in which clarification is sought from Twitter regarding the classification of a tweet by (BJP spokesperson) Sambit Patra as 'manipulative'."
