Bengaluru:Amid speculations of his resignation, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will meet Governor Thavar Chand Gehlot on Monday afternoon. Sources said Gehlot has given Yediyurappa an appointment at 2pm. On July 26, the Chief Minister's Office had sought an appointment with the Governor, whose office allotted him time after the latter's arrival back from New Delhi.

As Yediyurappa completes two years in office, he will address his party leaders at the Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha from 11 am - 1pm. It is believed that the 79-year-old leader will deliver his farewell speech during this event. Soon after this, the Lingayat leader will hold a meeting at his office post which he is scheduled to meet the Governor.

Yediyurappa holds a rare distinction of being the oldest among the incumbent BJP office bearers against the party's dictum of retiring its leaders from politics after they attain 75 years of age. It is said that the party wants to replace Yediyurappa with a younger leader who could be projected as the chief ministerial face for the Assembly elections in the state in 2023.
