AMC to fine Rs 500 to people roaming without vaccine

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) hinted at imposing a fine of Rs 500 upon citizens, moving in the city, without taking the Covid-19 vaccine, said Corporation's Health officer Neeta Padalkar.

The fine will be imposed on people more than 45 years of age.

The population of Aurangabad is around 15 lakhs of which 3.08 lakhs people took the jab, which is around 20 per cent of the total population.

The AMC has a target of vaccinating 5 lakh citizens till June. Meanwhile, the health administration is on its toes to implement the drive to administer the vaccine to citizens of age 18 years and above from May 1.

Presently, there is a rush of Covid patients from urban as well as rural sectors in the city for the treatment.
